Star Log Cabin

This quilt is from the book "Star Log Cabin" by Eleanor Burns. It uses the "Quilt in a Day" technique. But, as I joke, this was nearly 1.5 years worth of days!

The quilt was made to go on our bed, and match the decor of the master bedroom and master bathroom, which is in blacks and greys with hints of red. The layout was done to create an Ohio Star pattern in the center, though I'm not sure that it was necessarily successful! It was machine quilted by Michelle Mancl of Cottage Grove, Minnesota.

This quilt was very heavily smoke-damaged during our house fire. It was cleaned and salvaged, and fortunately since the color-scheme is already black and grey, it is difficult to tell that it had any damage.

This photo shows exactly what happens whenever I lay a quilt down on the floor to take a photo of it. The cat runs over and lays down, perhaps claiming it as his own!
