Trip to Central South Dakota
June 2002 - Page Two

I have tried (unsuccessfully) for years to get good photographs of a meadowlark.  No matter how I would stalk, quietly wait, and wait..and wait...it never worked.  If you get within a few hundred feet of a meadowlark, they'll fly away!  No matter what!

Thus began the "legend" of me and all the pictures of the backsides of Meadowlarks...the pictures get snapped just as they turn around to fly away.

But this time they were outsmarted, with the help of a new spotting scope and an experiment to put the camera up the to lense of the spotting scope.  Not perfect results, but SO much better than anything I've ever gotten.
